About WDI Inspections
Wood destroying insect inspections, commonly referred to as “Pest Inspections” or “Termite Inspections” is another service provided by Erie Inspection Service that checks for insects that can harm your home and property. A WDI inspection is designed to provide parties in a real estate transaction with a factual report of the inspector’s visual observations for the presence, or absence of, past or present, wood destroying insect activity.
WDI inspections are not just for termites. The most commonly found wood destroying insects in our area include:
- Termites
- Carpenter Ants
- Carpenter Bees
- Powderpost Beetles
Dangers of Wood Destroying Insects
Wood destroying insects like termites and carpenter ants burrow tunnels into wooden fixtures of a home or property. This causes the wood to deteriorate and lose integrity, providing a potential dangerous situation for the structure and foundation of your home. This structural damage can not only be unsafe, but may additionally cause the value of your home or property to decrease as well. Repairing this damage can be costly as well, so it’s best to catch the presence of these insects early on.
How We Perform WDI Inspections
Our highly-trained inspectors, licensed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture for WDI Inspections, perform a visual inspection of the open and accessible areas at the time of inspection. This includes the inside and outside of the structure and any structural components.
We provide a same-day digital report which covers any visual signs of past or present WDI activity, as well as any needed treatment recommendations.
