Home Energy Tune-Up Inspection |
Erie Inspection Service has teamed up with CMC Energy Services to provide a new home inspection service for energy conscious clients. Todd received his certification from CMC in May 2004 to perform home energy tune-up inspections on residential dwellings. CMC Energy Services is a company that has developed software and provided training and inspectors to major utility companies for the purpose of performing energy evaluations since 1977. A home energy tune-up is a visual inspection of the energy related components in the home, which gathers information used to generate a report for the client which demonstrates areas where energy upgrades can produce savings on utility bills. With the skyrocketing cost of heating a home, this can be an invaluable tool to any homeowner. Observations and measurements are made during the inspection involving square footage of walls and floor space, number of windows and doors, age and condition of major appliances, insulation levels, etc. This information is recorded in a data entry worksheet designed by CMC Energy Services. The information is then uploaded to their specifically developed software program that converts that data into an easily readable report, which highlights areas of energy deficiencies and recommended upgrades. This includes information on the approximate cost of each upgrade, along with the approximate annual energy savings with projected timeline of payback on initial investment. Interested clients can also obtain information from CMC Energy Services on financing programs with participating contractors to perform needed upgrades. NOTE: the inspection should not be confused with an energy audit. An audit uses a blower door test to pinpoint air leaks. This inspection does not include blower door testing.
